“This song I knew I had to write. I had a full circle moment after seeing Luke Bryan open the Kenny Chesney concert at Soldier’s Field in Chicago 2009 back in high school. Then I met and opened for him in 2013 in that same opening slot Luke was in years ago.”
Elizabeth made Luke Bryan laugh when she told him, “My sister and I still have a video of you shaking your booty when we first saw you at Soldier’s Field.” Lyons continues, “He was everything I expected him to be: the epitome of a Southern gentleman, a family man, with the best manners.”
Elizabeth’s family travels on the road with her when they can, helping sell merchandise, take pictures, set up equipment - you name it. “I make sure to watch all the sets after I play. Observing is the best way to learn. My Mom, Aunt and cousins were with me in the audience when Luke was playing, and we all thought we were going to have a heart attack when he said my name in front of 50,000 people: ‘How about Elizabeth Lyons kicking off Country USA today’? He was so kind & gracious & respectful. I think we all started crying and jumping for joy.”
“Luke didn't have to remember my name and give me a shout out, but he did, and that spoke to his character and helpful nature. I had just started dating a guy when I wrote the song, and I kept asking myself, ‘Is he like Luke Bryan?’ I want a boy like Luke Bryan. I think a lot of girls will relate to this song in that doesn't everyone want a kind hearted, gracious, fun, good dancer with a down home smile?”
