When Florida Georgia Line finally took the stage, they belted out a few songs before Tyler Hubbard exclaimed, "As y'all know anything goes... ha! This year we are digging our roots and we want to take you back to the beginning." The duo shared photos from where their start in music began. These photos will be featured on their next album, 'Dig Your Roots' and is set to be released August 26. The album cover shows Kelley in his hat and boots during his diaper days while Hubbard is riding his toy quad. If that doesn't show their roots, I don't know what else possibly could.
What ended up being our favorite part of the show was when the duo brought out Jaren Johnston of The Cadillac Three, who we think is one of the best songwriters out of Nashville, as well as Cole Swindell. This portion of the show truly showed Florida Georgia Line's roots as the guys took turns talking about, and performing, some of their top hits in country music. This writer’s roundtable included Luke Bryan's "Roller Coaster", Frankie Ballard's "Sunshine and Whiskey", Jason Aldean's "Burnin' it Down", and more. The next time you hear a big hit on country radio, don't be surprised if someone on this tour had been a part of the writing process.
Not only does Florida Georgia Line have a track on their next record titled "Smooth", but they also launched a whiskey line this month called Old Camp Whiskey, which is now available for purchase in stores nationwide. The guys brought out a bottle to show their New Jersey fans and even took a few shots. We can't wait to try it out.
The encore alone made it an unforgettable show. It began with a medley of some 90s hip-hop favorites with a sprinkle of Backstreet Boys and closing the night with their historic #1 single, "Cruise." New Jersey will never forget the “Dig Your Roots” tour. If you still have the chance, do not miss the most epic country concert of the summer. Florida Georgia Line will be celebrating their "Dig Your Roots" record release in NYC at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden August 25 for a one-night-only show.
