Charlie Farley – Dirt Road to Nowhere Lyrics

Chorus
Around the curve and I bend us
Flyin’ and the wind truck’s
Loaded with the friends
On that dirt road to nowhere.

We’ve got, nowhere to be.
There’s not, no one to see.
So high, been and I take you there
To that dirt road to nowhere.

Verse 1
I would give you directions
But that would just lead to more questions.
See around this neck and the woods is best
If you let me get you to your destination.

Climb on up and I’ll take ya
To B.F.E. with their way
To buy R.T. in a place where
Ain’t no Google Map’s gonna take you to.

Now there ain’t no road sign
Cuz the road’s ain’t named.
Matter of fact, there isn’t even two lane.
Your truck’ll get scratched
From the binds that hang.
That’s how these pavement princesses
Get their names.

Kids are scared descendin’
Afraid to put a mark on the fender.
And meanwhile, my old ride
Looks like it’s been through a blender.

Chorus
Around the curve and I bend us
Flyin’ and the wind truck’s
Loaded with the friends
On that dirt road to nowhere.

We’ve got, nowhere to be.
There’s not, no one to see.
So high, been and I take you there
To that dirt road to nowhere.

Verse 2
If I said, “Left at the oak tree.”,
Would you know where that is? (I wanna know)
Could you find that stump by the creek if
I went to sell you a feel? (Come on, let’s go)
If ya can’t then you prob’ly
Ain’t doin’ the drive
And if the warden came you wouldn’t know
Where to hide
You wouldn’t slide ’round curves
Goin’ one o’ five
Or you would just smile.

Well, you’re in luck cuz I’m up for it (up for it)
I know where to be until Monday mornin’.
So put the cares in the wind
And the pedal to the floorboard
To get rumbo, we’re bein’ lost.
Now when we get past from the pastor’s tractors
And you think you got it mastered?
I’mma ask you to drive back
And when you ask me how to do that,
I’ll say…

Chorus
Around the curve and I bend us
Flyin’ and the wind truck’s
Loaded with the friends
On that dirt road to nowhere.

We’ve got, nowhere to be.
There’s not, no one to see.
So high, been and I take you there
To that dirt road to nowhere.

Around the curve and I bend us
Flyin’ and the wind truck’s
Loaded with the friends
On that dirt road to nowhere.

We’ve got, nowhere to be.
There’s not, no one to see.
So high, been and I take you there
To that dirt road to nowhere.

Song Meaning & Review

For me, this song is about a certain road in the singer’s hometown. And, judging from the comments on the artist’s YouTube video for this song, the locals can surely relate to it!

I’m honestly curious about this dirt road, it seems that a few locals from the South know about this. And when I try to listen closely to the lyrics and understand it, the artist is reminiscing about how they used to be back in the day in one part of the song.

And in another part of the song, the artist mentions how kids these days are afraid of getting marks or scratches on their fender, meanwhile the artist’s old car “looks like it’s been through a blender.”

It’s actually really nice hearing songs that reminisce about their childhood and what most of them do in their hometown. And it seems that the artist is teaching someone from a younger generation about this dirt road to nowhere.

In fact, I think the whole song is dedicated to tell kids from this generation how it all was and how they did stuff in their hometown back in the day, which I think is really fun, beautiful, and creative.
