Charlie Farley – Don’t Blink Town Lyrics

Chorus
I’m from a don’t-blink-or-you’ll-miss-it,
One red light kinda place.
Took back in the hills
Full o’ cattlefields.
Oh yeah, there’s dust on
Rust on the trucks
On every road around.
There’s bugs, mallard ducks,
Turkey and a large mouse
Livin’ in a don’t blink town.

Verse 1
Everybody knows
What everybody’s doin’ here. (yeah)
We live through a lot,
But not in fear. (nope)
We give what we got
If we got it to give. (oh)
Rain makes crops
And crops feed kids

Works at daylight,
Swap shots at noon. (noon)
Then it’s quittin’ time
Beer O’Clock’s comin’ too. (too)
So hug the family, (oh)
Embrace the fantasy (yeah)
That you ain’t gonna get
Right back at it again soon. (whoo)

Then comes Saturday
We’ll know how to play (yeah)
If we ain’t out for the woods, (woods)
We’re ’round in the lake. (lake)
But in ain’t an escape,
It’s the way are raised. (raised)
That’s where you go to get lost,
That’s where I go to be saved.

When Sunday breaks day,
We get up a tad late.
Some head to church
Some got a headache.
But when that day’s through,
Next week it’s the same thing.
Just livin’ life our way.

Chorus
I’m from a don’t-blink-or-you’ll-miss-it,
One red light kinda place.
Took back in the hills
Full o’ cattlefields.
Oh yeah, there’s dust on
Rust on the trucks
On every road around.
There’s bugs, mallard ducks,
Turkey and a large mouse
Livin’ in a don’t blink town.

Verse 2
I’ve never been into
Impressin’ the masses.
Ridin’ in a truck
Most folks call it classy
Four hundred thousand miles
On the dashin’
But the name on the title lane “dad’s”.
I believe in hardwork (yup)
Still leadin’ yardbird.
Right up and serve potaters
No orders.
Pour dirt, (dirt)
And paid in full.
I never change,
They never teach class in school.

Raised up on
Hand-me-downs.
Put a hand in ’em.
Don’t just throw ’em out
If it ain’t broke
Don’t fix it
Know what I’m talkin’ ’bout?
Broke and used,
A few more Don’t Blink Town.
So when you drive by,
Stop and say, “Hi.”
Shop and save my family’s
Way of life.
Cuz Amazon ain’t your
Sponsor the high school.
Shop local.
See y’all soon.

Chorus
I’m from a don’t-blink-or-you’ll-miss-it,
One red light kinda place.
Took back in the hills
Full o’ cattlefields.
Oh yeah, there’s dust on
Rust on the trucks
On every road around.
There’s bugs, mallard ducks,
Turkey and a large mouse
Livin’ in a don’t blink town.

Song Meaning & Review

Again, I’m amazed at the consistency of this album so far. Because, yet another song in the album doesn’t fail to showcase the features of the artist’s hometown.

Listeners can already imagine how much that town means to the artist. With all those memories with friends, childhood days, teenage days, days at work and nights having shots with friends at home. The crops, the animals, and people that those crops feed.

You’ll clearly be able to see or realize how much fun they have in that small town. I also loved how the artist included “Shop local”, which is something I highly stand for.

A lot of people these days fail to realize how much it would mean to someone, to shop from the local store, support a local store. We can only imagine how much our small purchase would mean to them and their family.

By shopping local, we support small businesses owned by fathers, moms or even someone’s child, and that small purchase can go a long way for their family.

So, when I heard that line from the song, it struck me the most and got my attention. One big kudos to this! These are some examples of topics that are missing from most songs nowadays. So hearing the whole album just was refreshing and it was beautiful to listen to. I hope more people would appreciate these!
