Sarahbeth Taite – Summer After Summer lyrics

Verse 1
Temperature’s climbing
Windows are down
Everyone’s got somewhere to go in this town

Pre-Chorus
Girls with their plastic sunglass smiles
It’s about time that you cross my mind

Chorus
Summer after summer
I wonder if you wonder
What color sky I’m looking up at
When it’s raining shooting stars
Do you see us in the dark
‘cause I can’t seem to stop thinking about that
What if it don’t ever get any better
Than that Colorado July moon
Yeah I still wonder
If there’s summer after summer with you

Verse 2
Birds and the bees you and me and some wine
The strawberry kind kept us up all night

Pre-Chorus
Like a song that keeps playing in my mind
Can’t fast forward so I just rewind

Chorus
Summer after summer
I wonder if you wonder
What color sky I’m looking up at
When it’s raining shooting stars
Do you see us in the dark
‘cause I can’t seem to stop thinking about that
What if it never gets any better
Than a Colorado July moon
Yeah I still wonder
If there’s summer after summer with you

Bridge
I could do all the same things with someone new
but will it ever be like it was with you

Chorus
Summer after summer
I wonder if you wonder
What color sky I’m looking up at
When it’s raining shooting stars
Do you see us in the dark
‘cause I can’t seem to stop thinking about that
What if it never gets any better
Than a Colorado July moon

Yeah I still wonder
If there’s summer after summer with you

Summer after summer with you

Song Meaning & Review

This song is about a summer love, a brief but intense relationship in which they reunite every summer and do the things they wanted to do. Due to commitments, they must part ways after the summer, but the time they spent together was meaningful and memorable.

The girl in the song was remembering her time with her lover during the summer. Everywhere she looked, she was thinking, longing for, and imagining her partner. She was hoping that after this summer with him, there would be more than just summertime for them to spend together.

She was overjoyed to see him after months of longing for him. She wondered if he was thinking about her as well, looking up at the same sky, watching the raining shooting star and hiding in the dark.

She knew she could do the same things they did with someone new, but the feelings and memories she had at the time were different than before.

She hoped that they could spend more time together than just during the summer.
