Styles Haury – A Man That Didn’t Know Nothin’ Lyrics

Verse
He said don’t worry about the radio
Keep both hands on the wheel
Don’t ever try to numb the truth
Cuz you don’t like how it feels
Boy I was just like you
Stubborn and head strong
So I’m sure you’re gonna do
Your best to prove me wrong

Chorus
And I did
I got a lot of hard knock lessons
Yeah I did
And I probably second guessed him
A few more times than I can count
Yeah I took them long way around
But I wound up learning a whole lot of something
From a man that didn’t know nothin’

Verse
I picked up my share of scars
Beat myself black and blue
He never said I told you so
Guess he didn’t have to
But it’s kind of like that apple
We all know where it falls
It’s a damn good thing back then
That one of us knew it all

Chorus
And I did
I got a lot of hard knock lessons
Yeah I did
And I probably second guessed him
A few more times than I can count
Yeah I took them long way around
But I wound up learning a whole lot of something
From a man that didn’t know nothin’

Bridge
I tried like hell not to break
And he wasn’t ’bout to bend
I never thought I’d grow up to be so much like him

Chorus
But I did
I got a lot of hard knock lessons
Yeah I did
And I probably second guessed him
A few more times than I can count
Yeah I took them long way around
But I wound up learning a whole lot of something
From a man that didn’t know nothin’

Outro
Yeah I sure learned something
From a man that didn’t know nothin’

Song Meaning & Review

Indeed, most of us can relate to this song from Styles Haury entitled “A Man That Didn’t Know Nothin’.” The vocalist co-wrote the song with Jeremy Bussey and Bobby Hamrick, who grew up in Medina, Ohio, and Richlands, North Carolina. His first memory is of witnessing a band practice in his father’s shop, which “lit a spark” in him.

Styles Haury paid gratitude to his father and childhood through his music. It’s a truly wonderful song about reminiscing the past and our upbringing. In the verses of the song, Haury talked about the lessons that his father taught him that he still remembers up to this point. He made mistakes, but these mistakes made him learn things the hard way. All thanks to his father, who was there to guide him all the way along.

Looking back, we remember how our parents used to tell us what to do and what not to do. As stubborn kids, we still do the things that we weren’t supposed to do because of our curiosity. These things made us realize that our parents were right and that they were here to guide us. They were there to supervise as we grew and discovered things our own way. Listening to this song is one way for us to cherish the memories we had with them.
