Harper Grae – I Think About You Lyrics

Verse 1
When the rain’s comin’ down
And the sun’s still shinin’.
When I see a silver Civic
On a backroad drivin’.
When the radio plays
When the stars go blue
I think about you.

If I’m at Lake Martin
On Labor Day Weekend.
And I got a good buzz
From golden hour drinking.
When there’s a little red
Painted on a crescent moon,
I think about you.

Chorus
I wonder what you’re doin’
If you ended up moving
Chasing Hollywood’s carousel.
If you’re mama’s still teaching
If your daddy’s still preaching
If your brother’s still raising hell.

What we had’s long gone
Yeah, I moved on.
Your memory don’t do
What it used to do.
I don’t want you back,
No it ain’t like that
When I think about you.
I think about you.

Verse 2
I remember that night
When I hear a door slammin’.
We couldn’t work it out,
Couldn’t fix the damage.
But it ain’t all bad,
There’s some good in there too
When I think about you.

Chorus
I wonder what you’re doin’
If you ended up moving
Chasing Hollywood’s carousel.
If you’re mama’s still teaching
If your daddy’s still preaching
If your brother’s still raising hell.

What we had’s long gone
Yeah, I moved on.
Your memory don’t do
What it used to do.
I don’t want you back,
No it ain’t like that
When I think about you.
I think about you.
I don’t want you back,
No it ain’t like that
When I think about you.

Bridge
When leaves start falling
And the air gets colder.
When I’m looking at the sky
Another year older.
If there’s a little red painted
On a crescent moon
Will I think about you?

Chorus
I wonder what you’re doin’
If you ended up moving
Chasing Hollywood’s carousel.
If you’re mama’s still teaching
If your daddy’s still preaching
If your brother’s still raising hell.

What we had’s long gone
Yeah, I moved on.
Your memory don’t do
What it used to do.
I don’t want you back,
No it ain’t like that
When I think about you.
I think about you.
I think about you.

Song Meaning & Review

Now here’s a song for a strong woman out there. In fact, this song is for anyone standing strong out there after months or maybe even years of trying to move on over a breakup with someone so important that they couldn’t stop thinking about them as quickly as they wanted to.

If you’re going through tough times like a heartbreak, this song heals too. This can raise your spirits up like “She did it, she healed, and I will too someday.” It made me say, “Wow, good for her. She healed, she’s finally flying high from all those days trying to heal from that heartbreak.”.

To the point where even when that certain person goes through her head, it doesn’t affect her the way that it used to before. It probably doesn’t hurt a bit anymore, it most likely doesn’t send her to tears anymore, it might not even make her feel lonely anymore.

At some point of the song, I even thought that this song could also be about a breakup between you and your old self. Like, you’ve come so far from how you were before, you’ve come so far from how your life was before. And seeing how far you’ve come, you’d never want to go back to how you used to be, how your life used to be and keep moving forward with the stronger and better version of yourself.
